Welcome to Farm in the Forest in Braintree VT

Our farming is informed by both permaculture and organic practices; no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used on the farm.

Everything we do on our farm, which is also our home, is geared toward minimizing our environmental impact and living sustainably. We are in the process of completely electrifying our farm; our house has a roof-mounted 18 kilowatt solar array with battery backup and an air-source heat pump. Both our vehicles are EV's, including our work truck, a Ford F-150 Lightning, which we charge using a level-2 home charger. We are moving toward completely eliminating the use of fossil fuels on the property.

Other practices include catching and collecting rainwater from our roof and gravity feeding it to our fields for irrigation, composting all organic material or using it to feed our livestock, reusing/upcycling/recycling to eliminate waste directed into landfills, sourcing natural materials on-site for farm use (mulch, wood chips, etc.) and simply buying less stuff!
